About Alison

Alison Irene Meyer has been an artist since she was very young, always colouring and painting. She learned from the best teachers and has sold her work worldwide. Alison is also educated in her love for philosophy of life, spiritual studies from the UK and her love for nature. She is born and raised on Long Island in the state of New York. When she was 16 she was in a car accident and at that time her Norwegian grandparents were going to take a trip to Norway. Seeing Alison received a lump sum payment from the accident she used the money to purchase plane tickets to see Norway, the country her grandparents were born in. Alison was fascinated how the people of Norway lived and she fell in love with the quietness of the nature, the bold granite mountains, the vast North Sea just at her feet, the clean air, the solitude, and the easy life. She traveled back to USA and decided to continue her studies in Advertsing Design, Colour Theory and Sculpture until she graduated. On her graduation day she was on her way to Norway to live. At an age of 19 she had purchased a one-way-ticket to a country where she couldn't speak the language, would live with her grandparents and try to find a job. Years went by and Alison continued to paint and sell her art at art shows all over Norway. She also sold to various shops in the USA and at an age of 28 she decided to learn about the art of rosemaling. An art form based on the culture in Norway, also at that time, a protected art form. There was only one (1) school in Norway for rosemaling and Alison studied there and got her degree as a professional rosemaler. Alison had an agent and he delivered her work all over Norway to shops. After 25 years of painting rosemaling and being a contemporary artist she discontinued working with rosemaling due to all the toxins involved in oil paint, breathing in terpentine and linseed oil. She went over to acrylic, watercolour paints and mixed media which she works with today.All work on this website is available to send worldwide. The work is without glass and frame to help send the artwork more safely. There is a title on each piece and price. Postage is not included. Alison resides at Torvastad, on the island of Karmoey. The most populated island in Norway. Her workshop and gallery are attached to her home.  Besides being an artist Alison is an author, writing books during the dark winter months. She has written a children's book entitled 'Christmas on the Christmas Planet', she is also working on other books entitled 'Hide' and  'Visions' coming out. She has a E-book published entitled 'Josef speaks' a book on the philosophy of life. She also has her poems printed in 4 books in the USA and has produced many meditation CDs/sound files in Norwegian.  Alison has been an art teacher / Pschic science and pjilosophy for adults for 46 years. She has various workshops, seminar and talks on subjects related to life, to master life and be the best version of oneself.
